Event Wins Highlight Final Day of Three Day Weekend

TERRE HAUTE, Ind./GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Indiana track and field closed the weekend of competition from the Gibson Invitational at the Gibson Track and Field Complex and The Tom Jones Invitational from James G. Pressly Stadium on Saturday (April 19). The Hoosiers recorded multiple events wins and personal bests to close the weekend.
The action started in Gainesville, Florida, for the close day of the Tom Jones Memorial.
Three Hoosiers saw improvements in 100-meter dash, as Kristina Vincic (11.86), Tamer Saleh (10.42), and Christian Woodson (10.46) all set personal bests.
This continued as Katelyn Henselmeier (54.68), CJ Martin (47.38), and Cameron Mullens (47.45) each ran personal best times in the 400.
In the cage, Sean Mockler improved on his season best to finish third in the hammer throw invite with a mark of 67.09m/220-1.
Taylor Schoonveld jumped a season best in the high jump, placing third with a height of 1.71m/5-7.25.
Back on the track, the quartet of Kristina Vincic, Kiera Davis, Olivia Gee, and Aliyah Johnson ran a 44.92 time that placed in the top 20 of the women's 4x100 relay.
Veronica Hargrave ran to a top ten finish in the 800 with a time of 2:04.67.
History was made in the men's 100-meter dash, as Trelee Banks-Rose ran an all-conditions record time of 10.05 in the event.
Aliyah Johnson (11.52) was able to move up the all-time list to sixth with her time in the 100 meter.
The quartets in the men's and women's 4x400 closed the competition in the Tom Jones Memorial. The quartet of Vincic, Henselmeier, Hargrave, and Morgan Snow ran the fifth fastest time in Indiana history, while the men's quartet of Mullens, Martin, Saleh, and Tate ran a time of 3:10.07.
In Terre Haute, Indiana, action concluded with multiple event wins in the field.
Hannah Alexander started the day winning the women's shot put with a distance of 13.77m/45-2.25. Makayla Hunter followed, placing second in the invite with a season best 16.52m/54-2.5.
In the men's shot, Dane Sebert earned the win, throwing 17.90m/58-8.75. Caleb Smith joined Sebert in the top five, placing fourth with a mark of 15.70m/51-6.25.
The Hoosiers also swept the hammer throw with Hunter Smith (55.98m/183-8) and Bridget Beyer (51.77m/169-10) earned the top spots in their respective fields. Seth Brosseau joined Sebert, placing fourth with a mark of 51.24m/168-1.
On the track, Symone Adams had a productive day, running season bests in the women's 100 (12.12) and 200-meter dashes (24.80) to close the weekend in the Gibson Invitational.
The Hoosiers will be back in action as they travel to Lexington, Kentucky to compete in the Kentucky Invitational. Competition start on Friday, May 2nd and conclude on Saturday May 3rd.
