Personal Bests Highlight Day One of Jim Green Invite

Lexington, Ky. – Indiana track and field closed the first day of competition from the Jim Green Invitational at UK Track and Field Complex on Friday (May 2). The Hoosiers recorded several personal bests and high finishes to close the day.
The day started in the cage, where Hannah Alexander threw a new personal best in the hammer throw. Her mark of 54.95m/180-3 was good for fourth overall.
Sean Mockler threw a season best distance of 67.26m/220-8 in the men's hammer throw, finishing in second place.
Vince Davero placed fifth in the men's long jump with his distance of 7.19m/23-7.25.
The Hoosiers earned another high finish in the men's javelin. Dalton Boisseau threw a 57.98m/190-3 mark to place third.
On the track, several high finishes were run in the 400-meter hurdle. Jania Hodges (59.21), Ryann Parrish (59.73; PR) finished second and third, respectively. On the men's side, Tyler Tarter (51.93) and Max Grangier (54.04) each set personal best times to finish second and fourth, respectively
Kate Henselmeier (24.21; 9th) and Christian Woodson (21.05; 8th) continued the strong performances as each placed in the top 10 of the 200 meter dash on the men's and women's side.
The Hoosiers were well represented in the 800 as Veronica Hargrave (2:05.84; 2nd), Maddie Russin (2:06.95; 3rd), Amelia Dodds (2:08.56; 4th), and Nola Somers Glenn (2:09.73; 5th) all placed in the top five.
All four Hoosiers in the 3,000 steeplechase earned personal bests on the day. Cole Raymond (8:57.56) and Garrett Hicks (9:10.07) place fourth and sixth, respectively on the men's side. Michaela Quinn (10:41.69) and Ines Herault (10:42.92) took third and fifth, respectively in the women's race.
The 1,500 closed the first day of competition, seeing several Hoosiers with high finishes. Joey Rastrelli (4:29.20), Katelyn Winton (4:31.04), and Lily Myers (4:31.96) placed in the top 10 in the women's race, while Martin Segurola (3:42.64) set a personal best to finish second.
