Two Hoosiers Make Podium in Second Day of from Eugene

EUGENE, Ore. – Indiana track and field completed the second day of the Big Ten Outdoor Championship from Hayward Field on Saturday (May 17). Day one was highlighted with several personal bests and a top five finish to earn team points.
Garrett Messer completed to Decathlon, finishing third (7404; PR) to earn team points for the Hoosiers. He took individual wins in the shot put (13.95m/45-9.25) and the 400 (48.69). Messer's point total now moves him to third on the all-time list in program history, passing Jake Wiseman.
Max Grangier set a season best in his decathlon performance, scoring 6762 points over the competition. He earned an individual win in the 1500 and saw personal best marks in the shot put (10.80m/35-5.25), the 400 (49.98), and the discus (34.63m/113-7).
In her 400 meter dash, Kate Henselmeier ran a personal best time of 54.46.
Trelee Banks-Rose advanced to his second final, running a 10.23 in the 100-meter dash. This is the second event Banks has qualified for a final in.
Veronica Hargrave (2:04.07) set a personal best in her 800 prelims run. Her time was the second fastest qualifier for Sunday's 800 final.
Cole Raymond added to the men's point total with his fifth place finish in the 3,00-meter steeplechase. His time of 8:46.87 also set a new personal fastest.
The Hoosiers will resume action tomorrow from the final day of the B1G championship. Kelly Moran will start the day at 11:30 (PDT) in the women's' high jump.
