Meet Central: IUTF Qualifies 13 Athletes for East Regionals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Indiana track and field program will send 13 entries to compete in the NCAA East First Round in Jacksonville, Fla. Competition will start Wednesday (May 27) and continue through Saturday (May 31).
The top-48 athletes in each individual event from each region are entered into the preliminary rounds. Competitors will be paired down from the 48 to a group of 12 that advances from each region to create a field of 24 athletes at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June.

THE HOOSIER LINEUP
The Hoosiers will compete in 13 events across the four-day regional meet.
Two Hosiers will compete in the men's hammer throw. Nikolaos Sidirenios will compete in his first regional meet while Sean Mockler will look for his second national qualification.
Martin Segurola's time of 3:39.54 ranked 22nd in the region, as he will compete in the 1,500-meter run.
Freshman Dane Sebert will enter his first regional meet with his mark of 17.90m in the shot put.
Trelee Banks-Rose saw qualifying times for two events entering the regional meet. Banks ranks 8th in the 100 (10.05) and 17th in the 200 (20.44).
Andrew Mangum qualified for the men's 800 with his time of 1:48.21 in the Billy Hayes Invitational. This will be Mangum's first regional qualifier.
Abe Eckman earned his first qualifying spot in the 10,000 meter run with his time of 28:47.69.
Makayla Hunter advanced to her third East Region prelim with her first appearance in the shot put. Hunter saw previous qualifications for the javelin throw.
After finishing third in the Big Ten Outdoor Championship, Veronica Hargrave ranked in the top-30 (27th) in the 800. Her time of 2:04.07 pushed the freshman to her first regional qualifier.
Jania Hodges will look to go back to the national meet in her first season with the Hoosiers. She previously qualified for the West Regionals while at Oklahoma in the 400-meter hurdles
Mariah Wehrle ranked 24th with her time in the 10,000m. Wehrle set a personal best in the Raleigh Relays with a time of 33:24.04.
Cole Raymond will compete in the steeplechase after setting a personal best (8:46.87) in the event during the Big Ten Outdoor Championship.
Hannah Alexander will be the fourth freshman for the Hoosiers to qualify for the east regional. Her distance of 52.06m ranks 32nd in the discus
