Meet Central: IUTF Sends Four to Finals in Eugene

EUGENE, Ore. – The Indiana track and field program earned four entries to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship starting Wednesday (June 11) and running through Saturday (June 14).
Sean Mockler (Hammer), Martin Segurola (Men's 1,500m), Makayla Hunter (Shot Put), and Veronica Hargrave (Women's 800m) all made qualifying marks during East Regional competition. All four Hoosiers rank in the top 10 in the school record books for their respective events, including one school record.

THE HOOSIER LINEUP
The Hoosiers will compete in four events through the championship weekend.
Sean Mockler will start competition for the Hoosiers on Wednesday in the hammer throw. This will be Mockler's third appearance in the hammer finals, earning Second Team All-America honors a season ago. He will look to improve on his school record of 68.82m.
Martin Segurola will be the first of three Hoosiers making their first appearance in the national finals. The junior set a personal best in the Billy Hayes Invite (3:39.54) prior to the Big Ten Championship.
Makayla Hunter will compete in her first national shot put championship. Hunter cleared 17 meters during the Big Ten Outdoor Championship in Eugene, setting an outdoor pr.
Veronica Hargrave will try to take the program all-time record when she competes in the women's 800. Hargrave ran a personal best time of 2:00.51 to earn her spot in the national meet. The Freshman currently ranks second in school history behind Molly Beckwith and seventh among the national competition.
