LOS ANGELES, Calif. — It's closing time. The Big Ten regular season is down to two matches, and Indiana men's soccer (12-1-3, 5-1-2 B1G) controls its destiny going into its final conference road match Friday (Oct. 28) night at UCLA (8-2-5, 3-2-3 B1G). But Washington and Michigan State remain in the hunt, tied with IU at 17 points atop the league table.
Kickoff is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET from Wallis Annenberg Stadium. Fans can watch the match via the B1G+ digital platform.
KICKING OFF
• After a 13-match unbeaten run to start the season, Indiana hit a middling run of form the last couple of weeks, going 1-1-1 in its last three matches: a 1-0 defeat at Rutgers, a bounce back 1-0 win at Ohio State and a 0-0 draw versus Northwestern last Friday. Still, IU has remained consistent defensively with consecutive clean sheets. The Hoosiers have yet to allow multiple goals in a match this season.
• Friday's match marks Indiana's fourth ranked matchup of the season. The Hoosiers come in unbeaten against Top 25 opponents at 2-0-1, having defeated No. 16 Washington (1-0) and No. 4 Maryland (3-1) and tied at No. 12 Wisconsin (1-1) earlier this season. As both teams have high RPI ratings, this match promises consequences beyond the Big Ten table, as teams try to bolster their NCAA resumes ahead of the NCAA Selection Show on Monday, Nov. 16.
• Indiana's only chance to win a share of the Big Ten regular season title on Friday requires a win, plus losses from both Washington and Michigan State.
