Saturday Setback Evens Series
4/11/2026 5:30:00 PM | Baseball
IU's offense jumped all over Maryland starter Logan Hastings in the first inning. A two-run single from sophomore shortstop Cooper Malamazian and an RBI double from sophomore outfielder Cole Decker gave IU an early 3-0 lead. All momentum was halted from there as the Hoosiers struggled to muster anything offensively the rest of the way. A solo home run from sophomore first baseman Jake Hanley was all that IU would get in the remainder of the game.
Following a brilliant performance last weekend, graduate student right-handed pitcher Reagan Rivera (L, 0-4) never found his footing against the Terrapins. He struggled through the first frame before putting a pair of runners on in the second. He exited the game after recording just three outs. All seven inherited runners for the IU bullpen came around to score in the loss.
It will be a quick turnaround as IU finds itself in the same situation as last weekend. Sophomore southpaw Brayton Thomas gets the ball tomorrow (April 12) as the Hoosiers look to keep pace in the race for a spot at the Big Ten Tournament. First pitch is set for Noon on Big Ten Network with Connor Onion and Scott Pose on the call.

• The Hoosiers scored three of their four runs in the first inning.
Notes to Know
• Sophomore outfielder Caleb Koskie continues to roll at the plate over the last month. He now has a 15-game hitting streak after a pair of base knocks in Saturday's contest. It's officially the longest single-season hitting streak by an IU player since Josh Pyne (15) in 2022.
• Sophomore first baseman Jake Hanley hit his ninth home run of the season, a solo blast to center field in the fourth inning. It is his ninth long ball of the season and the 23rd of his IU career. He's one home run away from back-to-back double-digit campaigns to begin his tenure in Bloomington.
