Indiana Softball to Face No. 25 Louisville & Iowa on the Road

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––– After winning five straight games at home, Indiana Softball (32-10) is set to travel to No. 25 Louisville (34-9) for a midweek matchup on Wednesday (April 15) before continuing travel to Iowa (22-20) for a three-game series (April 17-19).

- IU's offense ranks top-15 nationally in many statistical categories: No. 12 Batting Average (.355), No. 5 On Base Percentage (.464), No. 10 RBI (300), No. 9 Scoring (8.10), No. 9 Total Runs (332), No. 9 Stolen Bases (93), No. 3 Triples (19).
- Avery Parker is currently tied with Taylor Minnick for the most home runs in program history with 45.
- Alex Cooper hit a grand slam against Notre Dame in the win on Tuesday (April 14). She hit a walk-off home run two years ago to defeat Notre Dame 5-3 in 2024 (April 16).
- Of Indiana's 32 wins this year, 18 of them have been by run rule.
- Against Portland State in the Littlewood Invitational (Feb. 12), VanBrandt hit for the cycle as part of a 5-for-5 day where she also totaled two home runs.
LAST TIME OUT:
- Indiana has won five-straight games with each of those games being a home win over an in-state opponent. The Hoosiers topped Butler, 9-0 in six innings, then swept Purdue before defeating Notre Dame 11-1 in five innings.
- In the five-game winning streak, Indiana owns a 38-3 run differential and three wins by run rule.
- In that stretch as well, Indiana has only allowed a total of 14 hits for an average of 2.8 hits per game by its opponents. Ella Troutt threw 12.2 innings in those five games allowing just five hits and one run with no earned runs. Troutt had three strikeouts in those appearances.
- The five wins improved Indiana's record at Andy Mohr Field to 13-3 in 2026.
- Avery Parker's walk-off home run to seal a 9-0 run rule win over Butler last Wednesday (April 8) tied the program's career record of 45. She is tied for IU's season lead with 11 homers along with Aly VanBrandt. Josie Bird (10) follows from there.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
- No. 25 Louisville marks the fifth ranked opponent and seventh game against a ranked team for the Hoosiers this season. The Cardinals are 34-9 on the season and 10-5 in ACC play.
- They have won four of their five conferences series, defeating No. 13 Stanford, Georgia Tech, Cal and Notre Dame while only taking one of three at Clemson.
- Louisville has four bats in their lineup hitting above .400 in Chelsea Mack (.476), Madison Pickens (.418), Camryn Lookadoo (.405) and Bri Despines (.402).
- Iowa is 22-20 thus far in 2026 and has a 5-10 mark in the Big Ten. The Hawkeyes recently hosted the Dr. Christine Grant Classic where they split against Georgia Tech and lost both games to South Dakota State.
- Iowa swept Illinois but has dropped their other four conference series matchups. They took one from Ohio State and Minnesota but were swept by No. 16 Washington and No. 18 Oregon.
SERIES HISTORY NOTES:
- Louisville leads the all-time series against Indiana, 20-8, but Indiana has won five-straight games against the Cardinals. Three of those came in 2023 when Indiana won in the regular season and twice in the NCAA Regional. Iowa leads the all-time series against Indiana, 67-46. The Hawkeyes won both games of the series in 2025.
