No. 2 Hoosiers Host Huskies in Big Ten Home Opener

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The unbeaten, No. 2-ranked Indiana men's soccer team hosts the No. 16 Washington Huskies Friday (Sept. 18) night in its Big Ten home opener.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET, and tickets are on sale here. IU staff, faculty and students get in free with a valid Crimson Card ID. Fans unable to attend can watch the match via the B1G+ digital platform.
The first 250 fans in attendance will receive an Indiana Soccer x Little 500 collaboration scarf. Additionally, guests who show their ticket for this weekend's Indiana football game will receive a $5 ticket.
KICKING OFF
• At 6-0-1, the Hoosiers are off to their best start since 1997 (7-0-0).
• Three points are up for grabs between reigning national champion Washington and eight-time title-winner Indiana. Both teams won their Big Ten openers. The Hoosiers kicked off conference play with a gritty 1-0 victory at Michigan, highlighted by Stephane Njike's winning goal and Michal Mroz's tremendous save.
• The result marked Indiana's fourth clean sheet in seven matches. The Hoosiers have held opponents to three goals (0.43 goals against average) – only one from open play – and have yet to allow multiple goals in a match.
• IU has dominated its home matches, winning its first five on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium. In those games, the Hoosiers have outscored opponents 12-2 and recorded three clean sheets.
ABOUT THE HUSKIES
• At 4-2-1, Washington's highest ranking in the national polls comes from College Soccer News at No. 16. The Huskies also rank No. 24 in the Top Drawer Soccer poll but have not returned to the United Soccer Coaches Top 25.
• Washington ranks tied-for-sixth nationally and No. 1 in the Big Ten in scoring offense, averaging 3.1 goals per game, while allowing 1.7 goals per game.
• Indiana's back line will have its hands full between the nation's leading goalscorer in Zach Ramsey (11 goals) and midfielder Alex Hall (2 goals, 4 assists).
• Head coach Jamie Clark leads Washington in his 16th season with the program, owning a 194-74-42 record during his time in Seattle. Clark has a 233-89-45 career record over 19 seasons as a head coach. He was the Top Drawer Soccer Coach of the Year last season.
• Washington won its first men's soccer national title last year with a 3-2, overtime victory against NC State. The Huskies finished the 2025 season with a 16-6-2 record and finished second in the Big Ten with a 7-3-0 league mark.
SERIES HISTORY
• Friday's match between Indiana and Washington marks the fifth time the teams have met in the regular season – the remaining four all took place in the NCAA Tournament.
• That includes the 1999 NCAA Tournament Second Round, when Jerry Yeagley's Hoosiers defeated Washington 2-0 on the road to their second straight national title and No. 5 of eight overall.
• Current IU head coach Todd Yeagley participated in the first matchup in 1992, another 2-0 tournament second round victory for the Hoosiers.
