BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––– No.18 Indiana Field Hockey defeated No.13 Michigan in a 1-0 match on Saturday afternoon at Deborah Tobias Field in Bloomington, Ind. The Hoosiers improve to 2-0 in conference play and 6-3 on the season.

KEY MOMENTS
• The contest opened up with a slow start in the first quarter. Michigan had the opportunity to take back-to-back penalty corners, with neither leading to a score.
• As the game continued into the second frame, the Hoosiers attempted a penalty corner in the final minutes of the half, with first-year midfielder Gabriela Garayo Aranceta taking a shot that got saved by Michigan's goalkeeper, Hala Silverstein.
•It would be a back-and-forth contest with both teams defensive momentum leading to a scoreless first half.
• After the break, fourth-year forward/midfielder Theresa Ricci came out strong, taking advantage of the Hoosier penalty corner to knock the strike in the cage from the middle of the circle. She was helped out by Second-year forward/midfielder Molly Stutte.
• After finding power in the beginning of the third, the Hoosiers went on to have one more penalty corner and two more shots. However, Michigan responded with offensive momentum of its own, finding opportunities in Hoosier territory twice, both without success.
• Indiana's goal would go unanswered through the fourth quarter, securing the 1-0 B1G upset over the Wolverines.

NOTABLES
• Third-year goalkeeper Sadie Canelli totaled four saves in the contest, making critical plays to prevent Michigan from adding to the score sheet.
• Second year forward Celia Arroyo Cabezudo led the offense with three total shots and two shots on goal. Ricci followed closely, making two shots that were both on goal. Stutte added two, and fifth-year forward Karly Redman, third-year forward Mintje Hagen, fourth-year midfielder Javi Baeza and fourth-year back/midfielder Hannah Riddle each added one shot.
• Indiana out-shot its opponent 12-8 through the match.
• The win against the Wolverines is the first time the Hoosiers have notched a win in matchup history since 2024 and the sixth all time.

• IU will be back on the road for more contest play on Friday, Oct 2 and Sunday, Oct 4. The weekend will start against Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich. at 4 p.m., followed by the Sunday contest against Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio at noon.
