Indiana picks up their first home win of the season
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – After trailing 2-0 at half time, Indiana's field hockey team earned their first home win of the year in dramatic fashion—a four-goal comeback in the second half at the IU Field Hockey Complex. The Hoosiers (2-4) grabbed the game-winner from senior Taylor Swope in the 56th minute to reward two quick tying goals at the start of the second half.
KEY MOMENTS
• After the Red Flash (2-4) gained a two-goal lead in the first 30 minutes, Indiana came back from intermission and scored their opening goal. Andi Jackson assisted to Kelsey Giese, who hammered a straight shot from just inside the circle.
• Ciara Girouard found her first goal of the year a minute later to tie the contest, collecting a save rebound in front of the cage to level the game after 39 minutes.
• Giese earned another point on her assist to Swope, who scored the game's winning goal for the first time in her career.
• In the final minute of the game, with the Red Flash pressing for an equalizer, Bente Buwalda drove to the circle and dealt a reverse shot to the boards for the 4-2 lead. Assist credit went to Sofia Keen, who delivered a precise long ball down the wing for Buwalda.

• The Hoosiers' 26 shot attempts are a season high and the most since matching that total on September 17, 2017 against Ball State. Indiana has equaled or out-shot their opponents in each of their last five games.
• The goals by Ciara Girouard and Taylor Swope are their first of the season. Bente Buwalda and Kelsey Giese grabbed their second to share the top of the Hoosiers' season scoring leaderboard with Claire Woods.

QUOTABLES
"We knew that we needed to play our game, and we kind of let them dictate the pace of play in the first half. We said at halftime that we needed to get back to the basics, that we're in it, and we just need to capitalize on our chances. We came back in the second half really strong, so it was nice to see us get two quick goals."
—Junior Kelsey Giese
"She's such a hard worker and does all of the hard riding and work in the midfield, so it's awesome for her to get those opportunities and to put one away. We saw her score a goal last year that was a great spark for us, so for her to get another big goal that we could celebrate was a great moment. You always want to see your seniors go out on top, so that was a great sign of what Taylor is capable of."
