Personal Bests Highlight Day One of B1G Championship

EUGENE, Ore. – Indiana track and field completed the first day of the Big Ten Outdoor Championship from Hayward Field on Friday (May 16). Day one was highlighted with several personal bests and a top five finish to earn team points.
Sean Mockler Started the day earning points for the Hoosiers. His distance of 68.27m/223-11 in the hammer throw finished fifth overall. Tyler Reyna also set a personal best (61.70m/202-5) in the event.
Hannah Alexander improved on her personal best in the women's hammer throw with her mark of 57.31m-188.
Peyton McQuinn set a personal best in the pole vault with a height of 5.09m/16-8.25.
After the first day, Garrett Messer sits in fifth place of the decathlon. He earned first place finishes in the shot put (13.95m/45-9.25) and the 400 (48.69). His marks for the high jump (1.90m/6-2.75) and the 400 were personal bests for Messer.
Trelee Banks-Rose set a new personal best in the 200 meter dash (20.44) to advance to Sunday's finals.
John Colquitt set a personal best time of 51.76 during his run in the 400 hurdles.
The women's 10,000 closed the first day of competition, as Mariah Wehrle finished seventh (33:31.55) to earn points for Indiana.
The Hoosiers will start day two of competition tomorrow with the decathlon 110 meter hurdles at 9:30 (PDT).
