BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — For the second-straight match, No. 11-ranked Indiana men's soccer (1-0-1) erased a two-goal deficit Sunday (Aug. 24) night on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium, this time turning it into a 3-2 victory over San Francisco (1-1-0).
The Hoosiers used second half goals from junior forward Jacopo Fedrizzi – who notched a brace in eight minutes, 11 seconds – and sophomore Easton Bogard to pick up their first win in the young season. IU had fought back from down 2-0 on Thursday to draw with Clemson in the season opener.
Redshirt freshman forward Nolan Kinsella – who assisted Fedrizzi's game-tying goal versus Clemson nine minutes after making his collegiate debut Thursday – provided another clutch assist Sunday, feeding Bogard's winner. Junior forward Collins Oduro assisted both of Fedrizzi's goals.
KEY MOMENTS
• 8' – GOAL! Indiana became too spread out in the box when a Dons cross sailed long, and USF junior defender Chris Maldonado was first to it on the other end. Maldonado put the ball back in, freshman midfielder Ben Norris flicked it with his head into the path of sophomore forward Brayden Beason, and Beason hammered it in for the opening score. San Francisco 1, Indiana 0
• 19' – GOAL! Junior defender Victor Akoum was charged with a foul in the box, and USF sophomore forward David Raphael scored the resulting spot-kick. San Francisco 2, Indiana 0
• 39' – GOAL! Fedrizzi got one back for IU before the end of the half. Oduro's wall pass gave a Fedrizzi space from 22 yards out, and his shot took a deflection on its way to the side netting. San Francisco 2, Indiana 1
• 47' – GOAL! Oduro drove to the end-line and fired a pass across goal, which took a deflection to Fedrizzi waiting at the top of the box. Unmarked, Fedrizzi hammered home the equalizer unimpeded. Indiana 2, San Francisco 2
• 70' – GOAL! Bogard dummied a pass to Kinsella, coming down the right wing. Kinsella won a challenge with the USF left back, opening space in the box. Kinsella's first pass across deflected back to him, but his second found the left foot of Bogard, who guided it into goal with one touch. Indiana 3, San Francisco 2
• 90' – Indiana held firm for the final 20 minutes, happy to mostly play in its own final third.
