No. 5 Indiana Opens Big Ten Play at Michigan

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The unbeaten, No. 5-ranked Indiana men's soccer team (5-1-0, 0-0-0 B1G) opens Big Ten Conference play at Michigan (2-1-1, 0-0-0 B1G) Friday (Sept. 11) night inside the U-M Soccer Stadium.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Fans can watch the match on the B1G+ digital platform.
KICKING OFF
• The 2026 Big Ten regular season title hunt promises another exciting run, as six teams in the conference rank within the top 11 of this week's United Soccer Coaches poll. Indiana is one of three teams within the top 5.
• Through six matches, IU has won five games (5-0-1), scored 13 goals (2.2 per game) and held opponents to three goals (0.50 goals against average). The Hoosiers have yet to concede multiple goals in a match.
• Fourteen different Hoosiers have contributed to Indiana's 13 goals this season. Transfer Oliver Moller-Jensen leads the production with five goals, two assists and 12 points, scoring goals in each of IU's last two matches. Defender and captain Alex Barger leads in the assists category with three.
• Indiana is the Big Ten's winningest program in conference play, with 156 victories in league games. Penn State ranks No. 2 with 111. IU has won over half – 19 of 35 – of the available regular season titles.
• When it comes to winning in the Big Ten, IU head coach Todd Yeagley and his father, Jerry Yeagley, share the title of "all-time winningest" – Todd by No. of victories (76), his father by percentage (.920). The senior Coach Yeagley also owns the record for number of Big Ten regular season titles (10), followed by his son (6).
ABOUT THE WOLVERINES
• Michigan has won two of its four matches this season, those victories coming against Niagara (3-1) and SIUE (3-2). The Wolverines are coming off Sunday's defeat to Notre Dame (2-1), a common opponent with Indiana – IU beat the Fighting Irish, 3-1, in its season opener.
• Senior Grayson Elmquist leads Michigan with three goals and seven points this season. Elmquist scored the winning goal for U-M in last year's meeting at IU.
• Head coach Chaka Daley leads Michigan in his 15th season with the program, owning a 118-96-53 record during his time in Ann Arbor. Daley has a 208-207-80 career record over 27 seasons as a head coach.
SERIES HISTORY
• Indiana has dominated the all-time series with Michigan, winning 25 of 36 meetings.
• The Hoosiers handled U-M during their last visit to Ann Arbor in 2024, a 5-0 win – at that point, IU's largest margin of victory against a Big Ten opponent since 2017. Current Hoosier Breckin Minzey scored his first-career goal, heading in a cross for the second score.
• However, Michigan has won the last two matches in the series. The Wolverines got their revenge in the 2024 Big Ten Tournament, winning 1-0 on neutral ground. U-M handed the Hoosiers their lone conference home loss of 2025, winning 3-2 in a back-and-forth affair.
